An environment conscious brand originating from a hemp trading company founded in Japan in 1896.

Hideyuki Kasuga (Doctor of Engineering) established Hidek 1896® in 2013 as an environmentally conscious product brand based on the philosophy of "returning to nature what man has made by his own hands. Hidek 1896® develops various lifestyle products such as tableware, fashion, and furniture based on TRANSWOOD® and COMPOSITE TEXTILE, environmentally friendly composite materials he designed himself.

  • 2013

    Brand Founding

    Hideyuki Kasuga, a doctor of engineering, founded hide k 1896 as an environmentally conscious brand.

  • 2013

    Development of composite textiles

    Succeeded in developing "Composite Textile" as an environmentally harmonized material that is supposed to be recycled by compositing textiles such as carbon and hemp with soft resin.

  • 2013

    Started selling small goods

    Composite Textile_Carbon to develop the market by presenting and selling small items such as business card holders and wallets.

  • 2016

    Collaboration with Lexus

    LEXUS collection School Bags was released in collaboration with LEXUS. Sold at LEXUS dealers in limited quantities.

  • 2016

    Collaboration with Leica

    Announced a limited collaboration model with Leica. Composite Textile_Carbon is applied to the camera body.

  • 2017

    Launched bag collection

    Succeeded in developing a softer material "Composite Textile" and launched a bag collection.

  • 2020

    Formed Circular Economy CONSORTIUM

    Formed a consortium of industry, academia, and government aiming to build a recycling-oriented society, presided over by hide k 1896. Mitsui Chemicals, Shinshu University, Nagano Prefecture, Nagano City, Ichihara City, and Higashikawa Town are currently participating (as of January 2013).

    ANNOUNCED EV CAR

    ANNOUNCED A COMPACT EV CAR DEVELOPED BASED ON THE CONCEPT OF ENVIRONMENTAL HARMONY. PRODUCT DESIGN IS BY KOTA NEZU.

    Launched a furniture collection

    Circulation-oriented furniture was developed and presented with three furniture manufacturers. Product design is by Keita Shimizu.

    Developed Transwood

    SUCCEEDED IN DEVELOPING A NEW RECYCLABLE WOOD [TW: TRANSWOOD], DEVELOPED BY BLENDING 50% WOOD-DERIVED MATERIALS AND 50% BIOMASS RESIN PRODUCED FROM WASTE COOKING OIL, ETC.

    Launched the L'Etoile Collection.

    LAUNCHED THE TABLEWARE COLLECTION [L'ETOILE COLLECTION] MADE BY TW. PRODUCT DESIGN IS BY KENGO KUMA.

    Launched the Japan Minimal Collection

    BASED ON THE KNOW-HOW GAINED FROM DEVELOPING VARIOUS CT PRODUCTS, WE HAVE DEVELOPED THE JAPAN MINIMAL COLLECTION TO FURTHER EXPRESS THE ESSENCE OF COMPOSITE TEXTILES.
